Taking a leap of faith...

I've been taking photographs for as long as I can remember yet it felt like I had only really dipped my toe.

Jumping forward to the pandemic and lock down of 2020 I, like many took the opportunity to work on things I enjoyed, For me it was creating composites and Adobe Photoshop, I have always been in awe of the things editing suites have allowed us to do and wanted to be a part of that magic, so, along with joining my local photography group at Studio 58 in Kettering on zoom, I taught myself, with the help of Brooke Shaden and Lindsay Adler videos, amongst other resources, how to improve my editing skills and create compositions.

In September 2021 I signed up with the Master Photographers Association (MPA) at The Photography Show and it was one of the best decisions of my career to date. I have found the members so welcoming and supportive of each other and the monthly critiques that take place across different genres can be an invaluable resource.

Since joining in September I have received five awards over the five months, two in their up-and-coming category and three in their fine art category and I am so grateful for each one. More importantly, taking on board the critique and advise given to each member has really shaped my thought process involved in my creative and conceptual design.

Personally, I find most genres enjoyable yet have found my passion for fine art photography allows me to delve into storytelling, emotion, experimentation and creativity which is both an inspiration to and inspired by my life experiences and other forms of art, from fantasy to horror and everything in between.

I have been published in both Twisted Edge Magazine and Professional Photo Magazine with the MPA as well as having my work in the Northampton Museum and have been fortunate to work with so many wonderful people, I can't wait for the next chapter my journey!
